Philanthropy
Kappa Alpha Theta has strived to make an impact for the betterment of others. Our national philanthropy is CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates program. The mission of CASA is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are involved in juvenile courts across the nation.
Among the annual philanthropies the members of Rho chapter hold are: the Pace Race in the fall and KAT WALK in the spring, each benefiting CASA. The Pace Race includes a 5K run around UNL's scenic East Campus. Runners participating include members throughout the campus and the community with numerous fraternities and sororities supporting the effort. In 2008, the women of Kappa Alpha Theta raised over $7,000 for CASA. We hope to raise even more this upcoming year. In the spring semester the unique philanthropy, KATwalk, takes different members of sororities around campus and has them model different outfits from local boutiques around the area. The event also includes a wonderful variety of food, and offers a good time for all and will be held April 21, 2009 from 7 to 9pm at the Union.

During the spring semester the new member class of Kappa Alpha Theta will hold its annual Date-A-Theta Philanthropy on March 6, 2009. Here, the freshmen pledge classes from all fraternities around campus will have the opportunity to buy tickets in support of Court Appointed Special Advocates. Last year's event raised well over $700 an increase of over $400 dollars from the previous year. Buying the most tickets were the men of Alpha Gamma Sigma, who were named the winner. |
The Rho Chapter Thetas are very committed to their involvement in service. Throughout the year, we support all houses around campus to help make a difference in ensuring their philanthropy becomes a success.
