Information for faculty who are new to the UCARE program
How do you become involved in UCARE?
First, find an undergraduate student to participate in the UCARE program.
All full-time UNL faculty are eligible to have a UCARE student. However, visiting professors are not eligible to apply unless they serve as co-sponsors with full-time UNL faculty members.
There are a number of ways to find a student. You can advertise within your department, speak with individual students you know, or post a UCARE opportunity on the UCARE website. Contact us for details.

Information for faculty who are already in the UCARE program
If you are already involved in the UCARE Program, there is a UCARE Faculty Handbookthat should answer most of the questions about how the UCARE program works and the responsibilities of a UCARE faculty sponsor.In addition there is a UCARE Timeline with all the important dates for the UCARE academic year.
Pre-Approval Forms for UCARE Expenses
UCARE funds should be used primarily for the student's pay. Occasionally exceptions to this arise and students can arrange with the department to take modest funds from their UCARE award for expenses. This will decrease the amount that will be available for pay. Any use of funds outside of pay requires prior approval from the Director of Undergraduate Research. Please use the forms below for such requests.
