Other Research Opportunities

Research Opportunities at UNL:

Cedar Point Biological Station(at UNL)- Cedar Point Biological Station is operated by UNL's School of BiologicalSciences. The field station is located in western Nebraska on the south shore of Lake Ogallala. Cedar Point is eight miles north of the city of Ogallala, and one mile down stream from the sandy shores of the largest body of water in Nebraska, Lake McConaughy. The abundance and variety of plants, animals and ecosystems, make Cedar Point a great research and learning environment.

McNair Program (at UNL)- The McNair Program is an honors program for 1st generation and low income, or underrepresented undergraduates who intend to seek a PhD. The McNair program seeks to provide these scholars with opportunities, services, and information to assist them in getting into graduate school. The program is designed to start in the fall of the scholar's junior year and is completed in the semester of graduation from UNL.

Research Opportunities outside of UNL (NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates):

NSF REU Sites - The National Science Foundation supports a number of Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) sites all over the US in a variety of different University settings and in a variety of different disciplines supported by the NSF. For a complete listing, please go to the NSF REU Sites website.

Other places to present your research:

NCUR - (National Conferences on Undergraduate Research)- This annual conference is another opportunity for students both in UCARE and outside of UCARE to present their work in a National venue. The Conference supports all disciplines. For more information, please go to the website or speak with Laura Damuth. For the next academic year (2008-09), the NCUR conference will occur at the same time as the Undergraduate Research Conference (April 16, 2009). UNL will therefore not be sending any students to NCUR in 2009.
