Office of the Chancellor

The Power of Red

The Chancellor's Report

A report to special friends and supporters of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

December 2007
"Our progress as a university this past year could not be more heartening. We are solidly ranked among the nation's top 50 public research universities. We entered the largest freshmen class since 1982 and it has the highest academic credentials, is more diverse, and contains more non-residents than any class in the history of the University. We attribute this enrollment increase to the efforts of our admissions office, the engagement of our faculty, and the quality of our programs."

April 2006
"Our partnerships in research and investments in our infrastructure – visible demonstrations of support for research leading to economic benefits – will continue to attract top researchers in many fields."

May 2005
"... the grants made available from the University of Nebraska Foundation have given us the opportunity to pursue teaching innovations that we otherwise might not have been able to implement. These teaching innovations will make for even stronger instruction in a university already setting the pace nationally. "

February 2004
"Direct examples of how the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is helping spur economic development in Nebraska and beyond."

October 2003
"...we recognize the interrelationships between teaching, research, and service - that rather than three separate missions, they describe the output of a focused set of efforts."

September 2002
"I am writing to you to share some of the statements from [the State of the University] address and additional details. We have much good to report - and some challenges."

March 2002
"While budget considerations have dominated our time, be assured we are keeping abreast of issues in several areas."

December 2001
"As excellence in our sports programs provides a strong sense of community on our campus, we also celebrate the great achievements of our academic champions in some of our top programs. We have welcomed a number of world-class faculty to our campus this fall."

Fall 2001
"We have made great progress in the past year, stabilizing our academic leadership and developing a list of priorities toward which we intend to move resources."
