Alan Cerveny has been a college admission professional for more than 27 years. He became the dean of Admissions at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in April 2002. Prior to coming to UNL, Cerveny was the director of Admissions and Scholarships at the University of Kansas (1996-2002) and the director of Admissions (1987-1991) and associate vice president for Student Affairs (1991-1996) at James Madison University in Virginia. He began his career as an assistant director of Admissions at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1980 and served as the Office's Acting Director (1985-1987).
Cerveny has spearheaded new student enrollment increases 20 of the 23 years he has led a university's undergraduate student recruitment effort. His programs set campus records in multicultural student enrollment and in the freshman class profile at all three universities he has served.
Cerveny is a native Nebraskan who grew up on a small farm outside Fairbury. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
