Lincoln (Neb.) - Oct. 8, 1997 - [Your student(s)] is/are among 57 student-athletes on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln spirit squad for the 1996-97 academic year.
The spirit squad includes a 43-member yell squad and the 14- member Scarlets dance team. The yell squad also includes four students who appear as the Cornhusker mascots Herbie Husker and Lil' Red.
Spirit squad members appear on the sidelines of several of the Cornhuskers' intercollegiate athletic events at home and on the road and averages 200 public appearances a year. Squad members receive a full book scholarship and a $1,000 academic scholarship.
