Lincoln (Neb.) - Oct. 6, 1999 - Lincoln native Nancy Hardin Rogers will give the 1999-2000 Winthrop and Francis Lane Foundation Lecture beginning at 12:10 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Law College auditorium in Ross McCollum Hall, East Campus Loop and Fair Street.
Rogers, vice provost for academic administration and Platt professor of law at Ohio State University, will speak on "Should Lawmakers Leave Mediation Alone?"
She has co-authored three books on mediation and dispute resolution, including two that received the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution Book Prize. She received the Whitney North Seymour Award from the American Arbitration Association for contributions to the field of dispute resolution and the Ohio State Bar Foundation's Ritter Award for outstanding contributions to the administration of justice. She has served six years on the board of directors of the Legal Services Corp., which distributes federal funding to provide civil legal services to low-income persons.
Rogers is one of the reporters for the drafting committee for the Uniform Mediation Act, which is being drafted by the American Bar Association and the National Conference on Uniform State Laws.
Before entering teaching, Rogers served as a law clerk in
the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and
practiced as a legal services attorney. She is a graduate of the
University of Kansas and Yale Law School.
