Lincoln (Neb.) - Sept. 12, 2000 - The University of Nebraska-Lincoln was formally notified last month that it has been reaccredited through 2006-07 by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
The notification follows the successful completion of a commission-mandated focused visit during the 1999-2000 academic year. The focused visit dealt with the university's progress on assessment of student academic achievement across the curriculum.
The focused visit report on assessment was forwarded to a readers panel selected by the NCA and then approved by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. UNL will make a progress report to the commission in December 2002 on the continued implementation of assessment of student academic achievement.
The NCA conducted a comprehensive evaluation of UNL in 1996-97 and a
subsequent report by an NCA evaluation team recommended UNL for
reaccreditation.
