Lincoln (Neb.) - Oct. 12, 2000 - A behind-the-scenes tour of some of the University of Nebraska State Museum's 14 million specimens that are not on display will be the feature of the museum's annual open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20.
The open house will be held in the museum's research collections on the fourth floor of Nebraska Hall, 16th and W streets. Jim Estes, director of the NU State Museum, said the divisions that will have displays include anthropology, botany, entomology, parasitology, vertebrate paleontology and zoology.
"The open house is held primarily for the benefit of the Friends of
the State Museum, but we won't turn anyone away," Estes said. "Anyone
attending who is not a member of the friends can join that evening."
