Lincoln (Neb.) - Sept. 28, 2001 - The University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Music will conduct a benefit recital at 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at Kimball Recital Hall, 11th & R streets.
"A Grief Observed: Voices and Music from Ground Zero" will be a memorial benefit for the victims of the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Pennsylvania tragedies. It will feature reflections from New York artists, the music of Philip Glass, and the School of Music and department of theater faculty.
Suggested donations of $5 will be accepted with all proceeds going to the Uniformed Firefighter's Association Widows and Children's Fund.
With a selection of pieces by Glass, Stephen Sondheim, Oliver Messiaen, Gabriel Faure and others, the event promises to be a fitting tribute to those who have given so much during the tragedy that has touched all our lives.
