Lincoln (Neb.) - Oct. 16, 2001 - "Tour the Big Red Tradition" is the theme for homecoming at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Homecoming events take place throughout the week leading up to the Oct. 20 Cornhusker football game vs. Texas Tech with popular contests and events such as fun run/walk, lawn display contest, banner contest, Husker Howl skits and cheers, royalty elections, and an all-campus pep rally with raffles to include two $500 tuition reimbursements.
A schedule of "Tour the Big Red Tradition" events follows. All are open to the public unless otherwise noted.
Oct. 17 - royalty elections, Nebraska Union, Nebraska East Union, Campus Recreation Center, open to UNL students with valid ID only, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; karaoke, Nebraska Union, sponsored by nutodo.com and ASUN homecoming committee, 9 p.m. to midnight; Pizza Pass, sponsored by the NU Alumni Association, UNL students only, 9 p.m. to midnight.
Oct. 18 - pep rally, NU Coliseum, 7:30 p.m., featuring coaches, yell squad, pep band, the Scarlets, Herbie and Lil' Red, raffles of Nebraska vs. Texas Tech football tickets, signed footballs, T-shirts, Lincoln restaurant gift certificates, and two $500 tuition reimbursements.
Oct. 19 - lawn displays, City Campus, all day; "Come on Home" reception and pep rally, Nebraska Champions Club, 5 to 7:30 p.m., featuring Scarlet and Cream singers (UNL alumni and students only).
Oct. 20 - tailgate party, Nebraska Union Plaza, 4 p.m. until game
time, entertainment by NU Yell Squad, Scarlet and Cream Singers, Herbie
and Lil' Red; football game vs. Texas Tech, 6 p.m., Memorial Stadium,
homecoming king and queen, competition winners announced at halftime.
