Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 23, 2002 -- The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Botanical Garden and Arboretum will conduct lunch-hour fall color walking tours Oct 2 on City Campus and Oct. 9 on East Campus. The tours are free, open to the public and of interest to all landscape enthusiasts.
The half-hour tours will begin at 12:20 p.m. each day and will be led by Justin Evertson, assistant director of community programs for the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. The City Campus tour will begin at Love Garden on the south side of Love Library near 13th and R streets. The East Campus tour will begin at the Maxwell Arboretum gazebo near 38th and Holdrege streets.
" We will walk through the campus to view a number of tree and shrub species that are beginning to show fall color," Evertson said. "In addition to viewing the beauty, I'll talk about how these plants can be used in the home landscape. Both campuses at UNL contain quite a variety of plants that are adapted to growing conditions in Nebraska."
The tours are geared toward homeowners and people interested in learning about landscape plants. Time will be allowed for plant and landscaping questions. For more information, call UNL Landscape Services at (402) 472-2679.
