Curriculum & Instruction Hosts Student Research Conference Oct. 26

When: Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m.
Where: 105 Teachers College Hall, 14th & Vine Streets

Lincoln, Neb., Oct. 1, 2002 -- The Center for Curriculum and Instruction will host a Student Research conference Oct. 26 during which students from across Teachers College will present position papers and research projects. "The conference is intended to be an opportunity for students to learn from each other, gain confidence in themselves as speakers and thinkers, and dialogue with colleagues about important issues in education," said Margaret Latta, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction and one of the conference's organizers.

Concurrent presentations will follow a 9 a.m. keynote address in 105 Teachers College Hall, 14th and Vine streets, by Ruth Heaton, associate professor of math education, and Jim Lewis, professor and chair of the department of mathematics and statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences. They will present their work, "Strengthening the Mathematics Education of Elementary School Teachers: Preliminary Findings Between a Mathematics Education and a Mathematician.
