Lincoln, Neb., Dec. 20, 2002--The Nebraska Alumni Association has announced that the SAGE Association has become an affiliate of the alumni association.
SAGE, Sharing Across Generations for Enrichment, is a unique member-based program for lifelong learners. Established in 1992, the program offers noncredit, six-week courses on up to 30 topics each year. It was formerly housed and administrated through the Clifford Hardin Nebraska Center for Continuing Education on East Campus. The center will close Jan.1 as a result of University of Nebraska-Lincoln budget reductions.
"SAGE fits in perfectly with the mission of the Nebraska Alumni Association," said Marc Shkolnick, associate executive director of the alumni association, who will serve as the alumni liaison and program supervisor. "We've been searching for ways to provide continuing education opportunities for our alumni, and we're excited about the opportunity to work with the SAGE board of directors and members to achieve that goal."
"This collaborative effort will continue to allow the SAGE program to provide a wide array of dynamic enrichment courses for lifelong learners in the community and still maintain a strong UNL connection," said Deanna Eversoll, former SAGE director.
The association will provide SAGE with administrative, management and marketing support. Beginning Jan. 2, the SAGE office will be located at the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R St. The phone number remains (402) 472-6265. Due to limited classroom and parking space on campus, SAGE classes will be held at The Legacy, 56th Street and Pioneers Boulevard. The first term of 2003 classes begins Jan. 27.
