2003-04 Student Government Elected at U. of Nebraska

Lincoln, Neb., May 20, 2003--[Student name(s) of hometown was/were] elected in a student-body election this spring to one-year terms with the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska, the student government body at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

ASUN includes the 35-member Senate, whose members are elected by college, the Committee for Fees Allocation, the Student Court, the Appointment Board and other committees.

Kyle Arganbright of Valentine was elected president of ASUN, Sarah Campbell of Omaha was elected first vice president, and Olamide Alabi of Lincoln was elected second vice president.

Following is a list of students who were elected. Information includes the student's role in ASUN, year in school at the time of the election, academic major and parents.

NEBRASKA

Ainsworth: Katie Weichman, senator for the College of Business Administration, sophomore, marketing, daughter of Denton and Ann Weichman.

Alvo: Alexis Kramer, senator of the College of Architecture, junior, architecture, daughter of Sarah McCabe.

Auburn: Scott Peterson, senator for the College of Engineering and Technology, junior, mechanical engineering, son of Larry and Dianne Peterson.

Bellevue: Kristen Rigard, senator for Teachers College, junior, elementary education, daughter of Kenneth and Deborah Rigard.

Elkhorn: Joseph Gazda, student court, sophomore, history, son of Mark and Diane Gazda.

Eustis: Torrey Janus, student court, senior, advertising, daughter of Tony and Debbie Janus.

Hastings: Benjamin Keele, appointments board, freshman, political science, son of John and Wendy Keele.
