USA Today Correspondent Steven Komarow to Speak Oct. 7

WHEN: Tuesday, Oct. 7, 3:30 p.m.
WHERE: Auditorium, Nebraska Union, 1400 R Street

Lincoln, Neb., Oct. 6, 2003 -- Steven Komarow, the Washington correspondent for USA Today, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 7 in the auditorium of the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St. Komarow will discuss his work as an embedded reporter in Iraq. The event is free and open to the public as part of the university's College Newspaper Readership Program.

Prior to his time in Iraq, Komarow served as Berlin correspondent, covering events throughout central Europe and Russia for USA Today, the nation's largest-circulation newspaper. He will return to Baghdad later this year to continue his reporting on the situation in Iraq.

Komarow's presentation marks the second guest speaker offered to UNL from the readership program, which is administered by USA Today. Linda Greenhouse, Supreme Court correspondent for The New York Times, spoke in September. Last year, 79 percent of UNL students voted in favor of an increase in student fees for the program, which provides free copies of The New York Times, USA Today, Omaha World-Herald or the Lincoln Journal Star each class day during the semester.

Komarow will spend a full day on the campus, also talking with student groups and classes. For more information about the presentation, call the Office of Student Affairs at (402) 472-3755.
