Lincoln, Neb., Nov. 6, 2003 -- The connections, actual and potential, between the economies of Nebraska and Japan will be the subject of a symposium at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nov. 11.
The symposium, "The Japanese Economy and Nebraska," will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St.
Speakers will include Nebraska Gov. Mike Johanns, Takao Shibata, consul general of Japan at Kansas City, Mo., Shin-Ichi Tamba, president of Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp., U.S.A, and Scott Fuess, professor of economics at UNL, who focuses much of his scholarly research on Japan.
The symposium is part of UNL's Japan Festival, sponsored by the university's Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the Consulate General of Japan at Kansas City. It is free and open to the public.
