Lincoln (Neb.) - June 17, 1997 -Husker Kids, a summer program for children, is under way and still accepting registration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Office of Campus Recreation.
Husker Kids is a recreational day camp for children entering second through fifth grades to promote lifelong recreation and sports participation through organized activities. Supervised by Campus Rec professionals and UNL students, Husker Kids participate in a variety of sports and games, including swimming, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, bowling and aerobics. The camp also offers arts and crafts, field trips and outdoor education activities. Each participant will receive a Husker Kids T-shirt.
Older children entering sixth through eighth grades this fall may participate in the UNL Youth Recreation Camp. Again using recreational activities, this program also fosters leadership and decision-making skills, as well as physical fitness. Participants may learn about injury prevention, coaching, sports officiating and nutrition in addition to traditional sports and games.
Both Husker Kids and the Youth Recreation Camp are divided
into weekly sessions that end Aug. 8. Program hours are from 8:30
a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended hours are
available for an additional fee. Program fees vary, depending on
the number of sessions taken and the number of children enrolled.
For more information about either program, call the UNL Campus
Recreation Center at 472-3467.
