NU BUSINESS AND FINANCE POSITION FILLED

Lincoln (Neb.) - Sept. 29, 1998 - Scott Lewis has been named associate vice chancellor for business and finance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

As associate vice chancellor, Lewis will aid Vice Chancellor Melvin Jones in administering all budget, financial and accounting services at the university. Lewis also will help the vice chancellor with activities related to university grounds and facilities, police and security services, transportation services and human resources.

Before coming to Nebraska, Lewis had been at Arkansas State University since 1984. As executive assistant to the president at ASU, he worked with university administration and management. He also was the chief executive and financial officer for the university's foundation and served as ASU's general counsel. From 1977 to 1984, Lewis worked in finance and budgeting for the Arkansas legislature.

Lewis earned his bachelor's degrees in history and political science (1977) at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., and his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (1982).

Jones said Lewis' background in law and higher education is well-suited for the job at Nebraska.

"Scott's legal and financial expertise and his wealth of experience in higher education will be invaluable as we tackle major business and fiscal issues, and as the university repositions itself to the next level," Jones said.
