Intercampus Virology Retreat FLYSWAT 2005 March 13-14, 2005 The Virology Retreat 2005 begins at noon Sunday, March 13, and ends after lunch on Monday, March 14, at the Lied Lodge & Conference Center, Arbor Day Farm, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. This intercampus event is sponsored annually by the Nebraska Center for Virology to provide an informal atmosphere for students, postdocs, faculty, and other researchers from institutions and industry in Nebraska and the surrounding states to come together to discuss their research. Virologists, and those with an interest in virology, basic cell biology, or molecular biology are encouraged to attend. The agenda for this retreat typically includes 10-15 minute scientific presentations by approximately 30 students, postdocs, and faculty, plus a poster session. This year, Dr. Allan Zajac, Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, University of Alabama-Birmingham, will be the Sunday evening keynote speaker. The title of his talk is "Recruitment and Maturation of Anti-viral T Cells During Protective and Non-protective Immune Responses.” The retreat provides a good opportunity to meet other virologists in the area, become familiar with their research, and develop collaborative projects. In the past, investigators from Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa, have attended along with participants from Nebraska. All retreat expenses including overnight lodging (double occupancy) and meals are free to participants. (Guests/spouses may attend at their own expense.)
