Protein Nucleic Acid Interactions using FRET

We use biophysical techniques to study the mechanism of the binding of eukaryotic transcription factors to viral promoters to understand how these fundamental interactions relate to viral transcription efficiency. The transcription factors include TFIIA, TFIIB, and TFP; the promoter elements are the Adenovirus Major Late and E4 TATA boxes, and the TATA box for HIV-1.
