Intercampus Virology Retreat
FLYSWAT 2006

March 12-13, 2006

The Virology Retreat for 2006 begins at noon Sunday, March 12, and ends Monday afternoon, March 13.

Location: The Lied Lodge & Conference Center Arbor Day Farm, Nebraska City, NE

Poster/Talk Registration Due by February 25.

This intercampus event is sponsored annually by the Nebraska Center for Virology to provide an informal atmosphere for students, postdocs, faculty, and other researchers from institutions and industry in Nebraska and the surrounding states to come together to discuss their research. Virologists and others with an interest in virology, basic cell biology, or molecular biology are encouraged to attend. The retreat provides a good opportunity to meet other virologists in the area, become familiar with their research, and develop collaborative projects. In the past, investigators from Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa, have attended along with participants from Nebraska.

You are encouraged to sign up as an attendee and/or a presenter. 

Agenda:
The agenda for this retreat typically includes 10-15 minute scientific presentations by approximately 30 students, postdocs, and faculty, plus a poster session.

Dr. MillerKeynote Speaker:
This year, Dr. Stephen D. Miller, Director, Interdepartmental Immunobiology Center, Department of Microbiology-Immunology, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, will be the Sunday evening keynote speaker. The title of his talk is "Innate and Adaptive Immune Requirements for Induction of Autoimmune Disease by Virus-Induced Molecular Mimicry.”   For more information about Dr. Miller, see:  http://millerlab.northwestern.edu/pages/Miller.html.

Cost:
All retreat expenses including overnight lodging (double occupancy) and meals are free to participants. (Guests/spouses may attend at their own expense.)

Registration:
Advanced hotel registration for all attendees and/or presenters is required by February 10, 2006. (Deadline extended to Feb. 25, 2006.) Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be received by March 6th.  If you do not cancel your reservation with the retreat coordinator, you will be directly charged for your portion of the retreat expense.
