Each year, the Nebraska Center for Virology (NCV) invites
applications from undergraduate students enrolled at institutions
in other states who are interested in careers in virology research. This
ten-week-long summer research program is designed to provide
an opportunity for these students to learn more about conducting
research and about the University of Nebraska–Lincoln
graduate programs. Selected students will design a research
project and conduct research in UNL faculty research labs under
the supervision of NCV mentors.
Program Requirements
- Sophomore or junior standing at an accredited college or
university outside of Nebraska
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 with Biology and Chemistry courses
- Submission of a progress report to the UNL faculty mentor
at the end of the program
- Oral presentation of research results at a lab meeting
at the end of the program
- Attendance and presentation of a poster at the August INBRE/BRIN
Annual Meeting (INBRE/BRIN information can be found at http://brin.unmc.edu)
- Optional: Presentation of research results at a local
or regional scientific meeting
Program Information
- Program dates: June 5 to August 10, 2006
- $2,400 living allowance plus a $1,500 UNL ten-week dormitory
lodging and meal package
- Paid lodging and meals to attend the INBRE/BRIN two-day
Annual Meeting at Grand Island, NE
- Application due date: February 15, 2006
