UNL to host Classical Singer High School Competition

The UNL Voice Area will be hosting the FIRST ROUND of the Classical Singer Magazine’s High School Competition on March 1, 2008.  High school students will be able to compete for scholarship money and receive valuable feedback about their performance.  Students, along with their parents and teachers, have the unique opportunity to meet the faculty and tour the facilities of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The feedback from last year’s participants has been overwhelmingly positive—they loved the chance to see the school and interact with the faculty.  The benefits to the students are as follows:

  • They will receive valuable written feedback from premier university faculty.
  • They will be OUR guest for a special recruiting experience.
  • They will have the chance to win up to a full-tuition scholarship to a top vocal program.
  • They will compete for $5,500 in cash prizes—sponsored by Intermezzo Foundation

Students who are interested in taking advantage of this special opportunity should sign up immediately for the FIRST ROUND.  The top 3 winners and selected finalists from UNL will advance to the SECOND ROUND on May 25, 2008 in New York City.  The SEMIFINAL and FINAL ROUNDS will be held the next day, May 26, in New York City.  I kindly ask that you encourage your students to participate in this wonderful opportunity.
