Vocal Assessment Study

Comparison of Objective Assessment of Vocal Development and Subjective Assessment of Singing

Calling all Voice Majors age 19 or older to participate in a voice study comparing objective assessment of vocal development and subjective assessment of singing. Participation in the study would take approximately 5 hours of your time in the next 3 weeks and 5 hours in 3 weeks in March for a total of 10 hours. You will be asked to complete a Voice Range Profile, an analysis of your loudest and softest dynamics over your singable range. You will then be asked to sing a simple exercise while aerodynamic and vocal fold contact data is collected. Finally, you will be asked to sing an excerpt from an Italian Art Song. A recording will be made of you singing the excerpt that will be distributed to an expert panel. The panel will NOT be given any information about you, or that would identify you to them, other than the sound of your voice. The panel will be asked to assess your voice using a short survey. If you are interested or think you may want to participate, please follow the link to the instructions below.
