Maureen Honey, professor of English and an affiliate faculty in women's and gender studies, and Emily Kazyak, assistant professor of sociology and women's and gender studies, were recently awarded the 2016 Dean's Award for Excellence in Graduate Education from Graduate Studies.

This is the most prestigious faculty honor awarded by the Office of Graduate Studies. This award recognizes faculty members whose dedication to graduate students and commitment to attentive and rigorous graduate mentoring have made a significant contribution to the advancement of graduate education at UNL.

Both Honey and Kazyak are known for their excellent teaching. Honey was also the recipient of the 2016 Annis Chaikin Sorenson Award for Distinguished Teaching in the Humanities, and Kazyak was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award by the Nebraska Association for Sociology Graduate Students last fall.
