What are Hall Captains?
Hall Captains are the most basic level of communication for the UNL Young Democrats. The grassroots structure of the Hall Captains allows each student to have a personal connection to at least one well-informed, active member of the organization. This system of communications has been used on various college campuses around the United States, and has proven itself to be quite successful.

What does a Hall Captain do?
Hall captains are responsible for transmitting the message of the UNL Young Democrats on a personal level to students living in their residence hall. This includes registering students to vote, and, toward the elections, making sure that students are fully aware of detailed information on the candidates and their issues. Hall Captains are also to provide general information on upcoming events and motivate and recruit students to attend these events and have an active say in their democracy while doing so.

Who is qualified to be a Hall Captain?
Anyone who is excited and passionate about their progressive political views and believes that others should become active in politics as well is more than qualified to become a Hall Captain. No previous experience is necessary. If you are self-motivated and willing to dedicate your time to spreading the message of the UNL Young Democrats, then we would love to work with you!
