Summer Volunteer Opportunities

One of the most important aspects of being an active citizen is involvement in your community as a volunteer. UNL Young Democrats have a multitude of opportunities to work among senior community leaders on political campaigns. This summer, candidates for every level of government are looking for young people to become integral parts of their campaigns. The UNL Young Democrats have already helped to connect several volunteers with various candidates and the Nebraska Democratic Party. In addition to volunteering, many UNL Young Democrats have even had the chance to become staff members for campaigns and gain valuable work experience. From canvassing door-to-door to walking in parades, our members have been active and visible in the summer of 2006 gearing up for November. To find out how you can get involved and join fellow Young Democrats, check out the links below.

2006 Kickoff

In January, the UNL Young Democrats held a kick off to celebrate the start of the 2006 election cycle. They packed the room with more than 80 concerned students who are excited to have an impact on this year's elections. Featured guest David Hahn, candidate for governor, spoke on the importance of student involvement, his goals for Nebraska, and reflected on the current administration. With free sandwhiches and drinks and a surprise visit from the Red Bull team, students were able to mingle and network while discussing the President's State of the Union Address. UNL Young Democrats were presented with volunteer opportunities for a wide array of Nebraska candidates.
