Sophia Perdikaris, professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, contributed to this year's cultural exhibition by La Biennale di Venezia. Her writing was featured in the organization's material (below) with the work of Barbudan photographer Mohammid Walbrook. This year's theme was Environmental Justice as a Civil Right.

Perdikaris will present next year on the theme of people and place. She will also speak at La Biennale di Venezia's joint venue with American Pavilion.

Her research has been focusing on the island of Barbuda in the Caribbean, exploring how heritage work can inform sustainability questions.

She said that, in an interview, His Excellency the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda and Lady Williams expressed appreciation for the university's participation and "the archaeological work to preserve and conserve the cultural heritage of their nation."
