Please note that due to the Coronavirus/Covid-19 Pandemic, there will be many departures from our usual procedures and all information presented in these pages is subject to change at any time. We're providing the best information we have at the present time, but circumstances can change quickly based upon mandates or recommendations from the State of Nebraska, City of Lincoln, NCAA, Big Ten Conference, UNL and its Athletic Department. Please be prepared to be flexible and know that the health and well-being of our students is our top priority.
The information below must be revised due to social distancing requirements.
CAMPUS REPORT DATE
As of June 30, 2020, the plan is to begin with an in-person meeting on Sunday, August 16th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We are hoping to have this meeting in Memorial Stadium. However, this is not yet confirmed.
The 2020 Cornhusker Marching Band in-person schedule begins on the evening of Sunday, August 16th. Therefore, no band members will be allowed to move into residence halls prior to Friday, August 14th. University Housing will send move-in appointments and instructions to each student with a Housing contract via U.S. Mail. The Band Office will not have any influence regarding your assigned check-in date or time.
All band candidates / members that plan to live in housing other than University residence halls must make their own lodging arrangements for the fall semester. The band program is not responsible for the fees involved with sororities, fraternities, or off-campus housing.
BAND CAMP SCHEDULE
This information is tentative until we can secure rehearsal locations.
We are hoping to hold band camp rehearsals from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM from Monday, August 17th through Friday, August 21st. We have asked to use Memorial Stadium for these rehearsals, but we have not yet received permission. The format of these rehearsals will be posted as soon as it is available.
We'd also like for each section to hold one or two sectional rehearsals during the day at the discretion of Leadership. These would be outdoors and so shouldn't need formal scheduling.
BAND CAMP EXHIBITION
The Exhibition cannot be held this year in its usual format. We are working on ideas for a virtual presentation, however, that information is not yet available.
UPDATED FALL SCHEDULE
The fall schedule is subject to change.
In a non-pandemic year the marching band report time is approximately 5.5 hours before kick-off on home game days. Game day schedules will be posted on Canvas 5-6 days prior to the game. Most likely, the 2020 band's game day schedule will be different.
We will make every effort to give you accurate information as it becomes available.
The 2020 home football game schedule as it appeared on the Athletic Department web site on August 5th is below. All game times are to be announced. The exact nature of our performance at games is yet to be determined.
- Saturday, September 12th vs. Illinois
- Saturday, September 19th vs. Wisconsin
- Saturday, October 3 vs. Minnesota
- Saturday, October 31 vs. Penn State
- Saturday, November 21 vs. Michigan State
We've reserved November 11 and 12 for the Highlights Concert at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, but we don't yet know details of how or if we can proceed. The situation is similar to the Band Camp Exhibition, and we may have to seek an alternative performance format.
Due to safety and budgetary concerns, no travel is currently planned.
