Welcome to campus, Huskers!
As we begin to wrap up the first day of classes, I want to thank you for choosing the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It was incredible to see so many new Huskers at historic Memorial Stadium on Friday night, and a joy to see all our students back on campus today.
New Huskers, thank you for your engagement in Big Red Welcome Week activities. I need for you to continue that enthusiasm throughout your years on campus. Returning Huskers, I need for you to welcome these new Huskers and help them along as they navigate a Big Ten research university for the first time. Graduate and professional students, I call upon you to take full advantage of opportunities UNL offers to build community and develop professionally.
As you begin the academic year, I encourage you to embrace the foundational elements of the Husker Student Power experience. They include:
- P: Purpose – Discover Your Why
- O: Ownership – Own Your Experience
- W: Well-Being – Balance Your Whole Self
- E: Engagement – Get Involved
- R: Relationships – Grow Your Communities
As a university community, each of us is invested in the success of our students, so do not be shy about accessing the resources that are available to you. UNL is full of faculty, staff, and students ready to help you connect with resources to make the most of your time on campus. These important resources will help to support your academic success, health and wellness, and include a wide range of personal resources and support centers. You belong here, and I am looking forward to seeing all you accomplish this semester.
Thank you again for choosing the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am happy you are here, and I wish you a successful academic year.
Go Big Red!
