March 18, 2024
As we prepare to roll out Nebraska’s red carpet for Admitted Student Day on March 23, I want to reinforce how the success of this event will positively shape our Fall 2024 class of new Huskers.
Admitted Student Day is not just any another University of Nebraska–Lincoln event — it is an incredible opportunity to showcase our vibrant community, beautiful campuses and varied academic programs. Every interaction will indeed matter as we host 3,500 guests and more than 1,200 admitted high school seniors, introducing them to campus and their future peers as they work to make their final choice of college.
Much of the day’s activity will be around our residence halls, dining centers, Campus Recreation Center and the Nebraska and Nebraska East unions. Out-of-state guests can participate in a tailgate the evening before, and I will have the opportunity to meet with many students as well.
Ultimately, a successful day will help these students realize that they want to be a part of our Husker family. I challenge you to uphold our legacy of hospitality and excellence. Individually, be sure to greet our visitors with a smile and warm welcome — maybe reserve a little “Go Big Red” cheer for groups decked out in Husker gear. If you see visitors who appear to be lost, ask if they need assistance. These simple interactions go a long way toward making our visitors feel welcomed and could also be the one interaction that helps them realize that Nebraska U is the place for them.
If your campus team is interested in supporting undergraduate recruitment further, contact Quincy Young at admissions@unl.edu. Quincy is part of Academic Services and Enrollment Management, our excellent team that coordinates undergraduate recruitment efforts.
Thank you for your commitment to making Admitted Student Day and our recruitment efforts a success. Together, we can ensure that every visitor feels the warmth that makes our university truly exceptional.
