Dear students, faculty and staff:
Two years ago, we announced our N2025 Strategic Plan, a detailed five-year plan that builds on the work of the N150 Commission, which envisioned what our university could be and how we would thrive and best serve Nebraska and the world 25 years from now. The N2025 Strategic Plan has six key aims to deliver on that vision and take significant steps to propel our university forward.
- Innovate student experiential learning
- Increase the impact of our research and creative activity
- Create innovative, interdisciplinary research challenges to solve Grand Challenges
- Broaden Nebraska’s engagement in community, industry and global partnerships
- Create a climate that expands inclusive excellence and diversity
- Prioritize participation and professional development for all Nebraska faculty, staff and students
The overarching premise of the N2025, “Every person and every interaction matters,” embodies what makes the University of Nebraska-Lincoln so unique and a special place to learn, work and make a difference.
I recently sat down with the faculty co-Chairs of the N2025 Strategic Plan and Executive Vice Chancellor Kathy Ankerson to discuss the key elements of the plan, how they came to be and why they are so vitally important. It was a fascinating, fun discussion and reminded me again of how much this plan reflects our university community.
Today is our Charter Day, the 153rd anniversary of the signing of the charter which created the University of Nebraska. As a celebration of this day, and as we embark on our third year in the N2025 plan, we are sharing this video with you.
Over the course of this semester, we will be discussing the progress on each of the N2025’s six aims with our UNL leadership and sharing that progress with all of you. We will also host open listening sessions later this semester to discuss the progress, the areas where we still have work to do, and to help you and everyone in our UNL community understand your role in our success.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible work and persistence you have shown this academic year.
We have continued to learn, discover, create and innovate in person and on campus and extend that across the state of Nebraska. We have thrived and we have done big things, including taking significant steps to advance our N2025 Strategic Plan. It's an incredible tribute to you all that we continue to make such meaningful progress, even in the face of the challenges of our time.
I am excited for the focus on our N2025 Strategic Plan this semester, for the work that has already been done and the important work still to do to make our world-leading, flagship, land-grant, Big Ten university even more successful.
