Associate to the Chancellor for External Engagement
As the associate to the chancellor for external engagement, Diane Mendenhall coordinates activities involving the chancellor with alumni, donors, as well as community and philanthropic organizations. She also leads planning for the university’s upcoming sesquicentennial celebration.
Mendenhall has worked the last 18 years as an administrative leader with Husker Athletics and the Nebraska Alumni Association.
Mendenhall earned a bachelor of science in education at the University of Kansas in 1981, where she lettered in volleyball, was team captain in 1980 and was collegiate representative to the KU Athletic Council.
From 1981-1990 Mendenhall was associated with The Point Athletic Club in Lakewood, Colo., as athletic director, assistant club manager/marketing and sales director, and personal fitness trainer. She also was head coach of several volleyball teams and presented motivational philosophy, management, marketing and implementation seminars.
In 2000, Mendenhall joined the University of Nebraska Athletic Department as director of operations for Nebraska volleyball. In 2004, Mendenhall was named associate director of development for the athletic department and later was promoted to assistant athletic director, development. Named assistant athletic director for development and ticketing in 2006, she successfully blended the operation of two departments, responsible for nearly 70 percent of the athletic department budget.
