Interim Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance
As interim vice chancellor for Business and Finance, William J. Nunez is responsible for accounting, budget, bursar’s office, financial services, procurement services, environmental health and safety, facilities management planning and construction, facilities maintenance and operations, utilities, human resources, payroll, risk management, university police, inventory, parking and transit services, print, copy, mail and distribution services, student accounts, sustainability, transportation service, and auxiliary business services associated with UNL's programs. William J. Nunez served as Chief of Staff and Associate to the Chancellor from 2010 through 2018. In this executive role he worked directly with the Chancellor in promoting, monitoring, and measuring the strategic vision, goals, and outcomes of the University, provided leadership, oversight, and guidance for major university initiatives, strategic planning, and capital projects, managed Chancellor budgets and resources including state, foundation, and other fund sources, and advised the Chancellor on campus-wide policy and administrative issues.
Nunez came to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from the University of Louisville in September 2003 to be the director of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. At Louisville, he served in the Office of Planning and Budget for 12 years.
He is an associate professor in the College of Education and Human Sciences and has also taught at Louisville and Indiana University-Southeast. Nunez holds bachelor's and master's degrees in business and master's and doctoral degrees in education.
