The Department of Classics and Religious Studies was renamed in 1998, but its roots date back to the university's chartering in 1869. Two of the original five founding faculty members were professors of Greek and Latin. The department is recognized as a strong academic unit in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The objective of the teaching staff is to introduce students to the classical world and its role in the history of western civilization, as well as the world's major religious traditions and their influence on human history.
We are very grateful to have alumni and friends willing to support us in our educational activities.
