COMPLETE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS FOR GRADUATION
(1) REGISTER FOR AND COMPLETE CRIM 499 SENIOR ASSESSMENT (0 CR HOURS):
Register for the CRIM 499 in the semester you plan to graduate. This is a graded course so DO NOT register for CRIM 499 unless you are graduating. If you cancel your graduation make sure to drop CRIM 499 and register for it again in the semester you plan to graduate. Go to Canvas at http://my.unl.edu for information about the completion of Senior Assessment and other information regarding graduation. You must be registered for CRIM 499 to review the information.
(2) DEGREE AUDIT:
You should run a final degree audit after you have registered for your final semester but prior to the start of your final semester to be sure you have registered for the correct courses. You may access your degree audit via MyRED.
The top of your audit should indicate >>>>ALL REQUIREMENTS COMPLETED-IN PROGRESS COURSES USED<<<< This means that successful completion of the courses you are enrolled in will complete the requirements for your degree. You should not make changes to your schedule after this audit unless you check with your advisor.
If the top of your audit indicates --->AT LEAST ONE REQUIREMENT HAS NOT BEEN SATISFIED<--- you must adjust your schedule in order to complete your degree so check with your advisor to determine what changes are still needed.
Your grades will be monitored through the day before graduation. Professors will turn in degree grades (early estimates) for all courses you are enrolled in a few weeks before graduation. You will be contacted after that time if any degree grades are below the required grade needed to graduate. Professors have through finals week and until the day before graduation to change a degree grade. You cannot participate in the graduation ceremony if you have not successfully completed all the degree requirements.
(3) APPLY FOR GRADUATION:
Access the application for graduation in your MyRED account under the Academics tab. Click here for the tutorial on applying for graduation. After you submit your application you will see the $25.00 charge which will appear on your next bill for the term in which you have applied.
YOU MUST APPLY BY THE POSTED UNL DEADLINE. A good time to apply is after you have registered but just prior to the start of your final semester. The deadline is posted in the Academic Calendar and is normally the last Friday in January for May graduates, second Friday in June for August graduates and the last Friday in September for December graduates. A final review of your graduation audit is automatically completed around the middle of the semester in which you are graduating. Students with any problems will be contacted at that time. Please make sure you have your current address and phone number in MyRED.
(4) RETURN GRADUATION ATTENDANCE FORM TO ADMINISTRATION:
You will receive a notification from the Office of the University Registrar about a month prior to graduation. You must access and complete your online Commencement Attendance Form by the due date noted to indicate if you plan to attend graduation, want your degree mailed or will pick it up. There will also be a link to information about the commencement ceremony such as ordering your cap and gown. During the spring and fall semesters, the colleges are split into a morning and an afternoon ceremony. Our College of Public Affairs and Community Service is part of the morning ceremony.
(5) PROBLEMS OR CANCELLATION:
If you have any problems regarding graduation or plan to cancel your graduation, contact Karen Fulton at 402-472-6759 as soon as possible.
(6) ORDERING TRANSCRIPTS:
Your degree is awarded through the University of Nebraska at Omaha, however, because you attended on the Lincoln campus, you will order your transcripts from the Office of the University Registrar, Transcript Requests, 107 Canfield Administration, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, NE 68588-0614. You may order online in MyRED, mail, fax or drop off your transcript request form in person. Note that your signature is required.
