Dr. Donald Umstadter

Dr. Umstadter is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Leland J. and Dorothy H. Olson Chancellors Distinguished Chair of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics. After his PhD in physics from UCLA, he was a postdoctoral fellow at AT&T Bell Laboratories, and a professor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He established and directs the Extreme Light Laboratory at UNL, where his studies involved highly relativistic laser-matter interactions with petawatt-power and femtosecond-duration laser light.
