Kinzee Hillis art exhibition

Date: August 30, 2024

Time: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm

Location: Nebraska East Union Room: Loft Gallery (on 3rd floor)

Lincoln-based artist Kinzee Hillis specializes in acrylic paint while emphasizing texture and color.

Kinzee is life-long resident of Lincoln and has a degree in Studio Art from the Nebraska Wesleyan University. She interned with Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts as well as the Lux Center For The Arts and her work has been on display at the University of Nebraska of Omaha’s Criss Library; Turbine Flats Project; and Gallery 9.

STATEMENT FROM THE ARTIST:
My artwork is whimsical and bold but has a depth that rewards close looking. Sometimes it is overwhelming to think about what is going to happen next when we do not have a lot of answers to our questions. Different emotions and anxiety can overwhelm our lives. I make the art I do to create a glimpse of joy. Thinking about ways to celebrate life and loss. It is important that people have something to turn to and get lost in. Something that is not telling them about a diagnosis or receiving bad news. Letting a person be able to reflect and meditate. Something that is not asking us to do anything but look, and let our mind wander.

Monos in Oil, An Art Exhibition

Date: August 30, 2024

Time: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm

Location: Nebraska Innovation Campus, 2nd Floor Link

Monos in Oil is a captivating collection of monoprints created with oil paint and glass panes. The series features a diverse range of subject matter, from musicians to abstract portraits.

This unique selection of oil paintings emerged alongside corresponding works on archival glass. The creative process is akin to monotype printmaking, focusing on the interplay between abstractions and illustrations of musicians. The emphasis lies more on the artistic technique—utilizing a brush, paint, glass, and physical pressure—than on the specific subjects themselves. The process was both innovative and enjoyable, exploring the potential of these materials and methods.

Javier Rivera is an artist based in Lincoln, Nebraska, specializing in figurative painting and drawing. He earned his BFA from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2022. Javier has exhibited his work in various local and underground venues in Lincoln and his hometown of Omaha. He currently operates out of a studio in the Parrish Project building in downtown Lincoln.

To learn more about Javier and view additional work, please visit www.instagram.com/jriverart/.

This exhibit is located in the 2nd floor link at Nebraska Innovation Campus and is free and open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. through August 31.
