University faculty and staff members (including Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants) serving on a search committee are required to attend an educational seminar covering legal issues and university policies and procedures prior to the first meeting of the search committee. Although not mandatory, students and community members serving on a search committee are encouraged to attend these educational seminars.
IEC offers two types of search process seminars:
Institutional Equity and Compliance is currently working on a new Search Process Update Seminar. The new seminar will be available later this fall. Until then, if you have received UNL search committee training within the last six years, you will be able to serve on search committees.
If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A 60-minute session that covers the basics, completing the orientation will result in your three-year certification to serve on a search committee. If this is your first time on a search committee, you are required to attend this seminar. However, if you would like to take this seminar again, you are welcome to sign up for the Orientation Seminar. We reserve the right to cancel a seminar due to low enrollment. For accommodation assistance, please call IEC at (402) 472-3417 two weeks prior to the seminar. Please note: seminars are not offered in July and August.
Registration can be completed at training.unl.edu. Choose the seminar you would like to attend, add it to your cart and click Checkout. Sign in using your My.UNL ID and password. Complete the check-out process by clicking Submit. Shortly after completing the check-out process, you will recieve a confirmation email.
