Leadership skills are vital to spearheading projects and teams. Leadership is defined as the ability to influence others toward the achievement of a common goal, but leadership styles are developed over time and with experience; often shaped by both personal strengths and weaknesses. There are myriad leadership styles to draw from: authentic, authoritative, principled, situational, transformational, participative, et cetera, yet many share common attributes such as honesty and integrity, the ability to see the big picture, enthusiasm, credibility, self-awareness, courage, confidence, and kindness.
To develop your own leadership style and build your leaderships skills, you’ll need to (a) identify and develop your strengths, (b) manage your weaknesses, and (c) learn from others who are effective leaders.
