Project management involves planning, organizing, monitoring and assessing an activity (i.e., a project) from start to finish. The four basic steps of project management include the following:
- Planning: Setting goals and objectives, developing a project timeline (using a backwards calendar), and estimating resources.
- Organizing: Identifying individual tasks and responsibilities.
- Monitoring: Reviewing progress and revising the plan as appropriate.
- Assessing: Measuring impact.
