Project management

Project management involves planning, organizing, monitoring and assessing an activity (i.e., a project) from start to finish.  The four basic steps of project management include the following:

  1. Planning: Setting goals and objectives, developing a project timeline (using a backwards calendar), and estimating resources.
  2. Organizing: Identifying individual tasks and responsibilities.
  3. Monitoring: Reviewing progress and revising the plan as appropriate.
  4. Assessing: Measuring impact.
