Before, during, or after your visit, or if you are unable to visit, these links will help you get a feel for our campus.

Contact us at graduate@unl.edu if you have questions about our campus, the city of Lincoln, or graduate study in general.

Schedule your visit

  1. Schedule your department visit.

Contact your department of interest to request an appointment.

    • Try to schedule time with faculty in your area of interest first. These faculty members are the best source of information regarding programs of study, curriculum, and what the admissions committee is looking for in an applicant.
    • You may also ask to meet with current graduate students since they can be another great source of information.

Note: Some departments reserve visits for students who have applied or been admitted to their programs.

  2. Schedule your Graduate Studies visit and campus tour.

Contact Graduate Studies at graduate@unl.edu or 402-472-2875.

Appointments and tours in the Office of Graduate Studies are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  3. Make your travel arrangements.

    See Travel below.

Tips for scheduling

  • Schedule at least two weeks in advance so that your requests can be accommodated.
  • Some academic departments reserve visits for applicants or admitted students only; contact your department to inquire. Visits in the Office of Graduate Studies are for all students.
  • Visit during the work week while classes are in session for maximum availability of faculty, current students, and university offices. Consult the academic calendar and typically avoid weekends, holidays, and finals week. If considering a summer visit, check with your department in case faculty are conducting research at off-campus sites.

Tips for the day of your visit

  • Plan to spend quality time exploring the university and the surrounding community so you don't miss anything important or feel rushed.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes, as the tour of campus will be a walking tour. Check the weather forecast.
  • Be prepared to ask questions! The best way for you to get all of the answers you're looking for is to ask questions!
  • Make sure you have directions and phone numbers before you leave home, and plan to arrive on campus a little early.
