The second episode of the program 'The Director's Take', featuring Vanessa Northington Gamble of George Washington University and Evelyn Hammonds of Harvard University, aired April 27 on Instagram and Facebook Live.

Deirdre Cooper Owens, director of the Humanities in Medicine program and faculty member in the Department of History, launched the show last month to explore the diversity of medical humanities.

"These two phenomenal Black women have made tremendous contributions to our understanding of how race, gender, science, and history have interacted in the past to inform what we see today," Cooper Owens posted on Instagram. "I would not be where I am without them and am so pleased to bring them together for a conversation about their lives and paths as giants in this field."
