2006 Rural Poetry of Place

2006 Rural Poetry Celebration Student Poets
The Rural Sites Network collaborated with the Rural School and Community Trust to create the Rural Poetry of Place project.  Eight sites were awarded grants to support the teaching and celebration of place-based poetry.   Nebraska poets Twyla Hansen and Bill Kloefkorn, judged the student poetry submissions.  On May 5th, they joined the ten representative High School poets in reading their work at the "Celebrating Rural Poetry" event at the Nebraska State Capitol Building in Lincoln.  Winning student poetry may be read at the Rural Trust website.  Read more about this National Writing Project event...
