The Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS) is committed to providing a safe and engaging space for UNL faculty, staff, and students to participate in meaningful and informative dialogue. Dish it Up is an interactive conversation where individuals can share their personal views, learn from others and engage in civil discussions concerning current events, topics affecting students' lives, UNL, and national/international happenings.
Dish It Up is a space that fosters inclusive shared learning of students, faculty, and staff where everyone can engage in dialogue, challenge their thinking, and build relationships. Dish It Up actively builds an inclusive environment for all University of Nebraska-Lincoln community members and recognizes the importance of collaboration.
According to Sherry Turkle's New York Times Bestseller, Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in A Digital Age
“Face to Face conversation is the most human-and humanizing-thing we do. Fully present to one another, we learn to listen. It’s where we develop the capacity for empathy. It’s where we experience the joy of being heard, of being understood. And conversation advances self-reflection, the conversations with ourselves that are the cornerstone of early development and continue throughout life.”
We invite you to participate in the conversation on selected Tuesdays from noon to 1 PM. All Are Welcome! Dish It Up will be held in the OASIS Lounge of the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center.
