My research interests oscillate around understanding genetic control of natural variation of different traits in maize. During my work in Schnable Lab I have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse group of researchers and try to identified genes responsible for controlling various phenotypes. Using data sets from our lab and literature, I try to understand how these genes were affected during maize domestication and adaptation to higher latitude. In the long run, this knowledge should help produce better crops, which are necessary to to meet the requirements of increasing human population size and climate change.
