My current research aims at understanding what a large data set (high density phenotype and genotype) tells us about various biological functions. In this regard I am using various quantitative genetics methods and computational approaches to dissect the genetic basis of association between genomic regions with various phenotypes in sorghum. The results obtained from this project will be extended to other related crop species and will pave the way for further research to facilitate crop improvement.
In the future, I would like to pursue my career in field crop improvement for commercial benefits. As a result, I am interested in taking a holistic approach by combining plant breeding, high-throughput phenotyping, high throughput genotyping, quantitative genetics and computational tools for handling big data and conducting meta-analysis to improve crops for commercial utility.
