Kruse earns dissertation award

Jennifer Kruse, a lecturer in the Department of Communication Studies and the Women's and Gender Studies program, has received the 2021 Cheris Kramerae Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language and Gender (OSCLG).

Her dissertation is titled "Exploring Constructions Of 'Good' Motherhood On Social Media: Navigating Neoliberal Mommy Rhetorics and the Negative Affective Entanglements of Women's Discourses On Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram".

The OSCLG provides a forum for professional discussion, presentation of research, and demonstration of creative projects in the areas of communication, language, and gender.

A Husker alumna, Kruse teaches courses in rhetoric and women's and gender studies, and her scholarly research meets at the intersections of rhetoric, critical/cultural studies, media studies, and women's and gender studies
