Carole Levin is Willa Cather Professor of History at the University of Nebraska. She was the co-founder of the Queen Elizabeth I Society and has won awards for her teaching from SUNY/New Paltz and the University of Nebraska.

She is the author or editor of nineteen books including The Heart and Stomach of a King: Elizabeth I and the Politics of Sex and Power (second edition, 2013) and Dreaming the English Renaissance (2008).

Her most recent books are the co-edited A Biographical Encyclopedia of Early Modern Englishwomen: Exemplary Lives and Memorable Acts, 1500-1650 (2016) and Creating the Premodern in the Postmodern Classroom (2018).

She has held long-term fellowships at both the Newberry Library in Chicago and the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. and was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of York in England in 2015.
